Set The Tone For Your Self Care Ritual - 7 Tips on How

Set The Tone For Your Self Care Ritual : 7 Tips On How To Create A Spa Like Bath Experience

It’s important to set aside time to recharge your ‘personal battery’ and create a ‘time out’ to take care of yourself. To “recharge” essentially means self-care and rest and making it a ritual will having you reaping the benefits and making it a routine.

Rather than viewing your self care as an expense - see it as an investment ❤️

Showing yourself some love, like taking time for a bath is inexpensive and relatively accessible (if you have a bathtub that is).  Baths can be very customizable meaning you can create the bath of your dreams, while indulging in important self-care. You can turn your entire bathroom into an at-home luxury bath spa, and enhance your senses by creating a mini getaway without ever leaving home.

Here’s how:

    1. Choosing the right time of day for your self-care bath is really important. You can choose a morning time to kick start and rejuvenate your day. A middle of the day pick-me-up may work better for you, or the evening as part of a night time, wind down from the day. Whatever you chose - it’s all about what works best for YOU, but be sure it can be a time of uninterrupted space.
    2. Lighting your favorite candle/dimming the lights can make a world of difference on mood creation. This can really set the tone for your relaxation period.
    3. Having the right bath water temperature also is important —it comes down to personal preference and the purpose of your time in the tub. For most people, comfortable bathwater is around 100 degrees F (just above your body’s natural temperature).  Tip: Keep your bath temp less-than-scalding to protect your skin from irritation, especially if your skin tends dry, or sensitive as excessive hot water can dry out your skin especially as we age.
    4. Enhance your bath water with add ons like bath truffles, bubbling bath salts, bath bombs, luxury soaking bath salts or even add essential oils, bath teas or dried rose petals to your bath. Essential oils like lavender, rose, lemon, ylang ylang, and eucalyptus come with benefits. Tip :  Blend five to 20 drops of essential oil in one tablespoon of carrier oil such as grapeseed, jojoba, almond, or argan oil - then add the oil right before you're about to get into the bath to keep it from evaporating.
    5. Create a sensory journey with some bath time essentials such as whipped bath soap/whipped sugar scrubs or an artisan soap bar for a luxury skin feel. Try your favorite shampoo or conditioner bars that will transport your hair and your mind. Bathrobes, bath pillows or even fresh towels are a fabulous addition to your relaxation experience. You can even pre heat your towels or bath robe for an added cozy feel. Use a sisal soap pouch for an added (gentle) sensory journey.
    6. Bring a waterproof speaker into the bathroom (away from your bath water preferably). Create a playlist for your ‘me time’. A good playlist or soothing music is always a huge ‘mood-boosting must have’ for the full spa experience. Podcasts are always a great distraction and can help you detach from daily stresses that may creep into your mind.
    7. Bring in your favorite beverage to your bath environment. It can be anything from a herbal tea, lemon water, or yes, even a glass of wine.
